Very compelling!

I haven’t been to church in over a year now, and I’ve been pondering how I should address what I’ve discovered along the way. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably could’ve never guessed that I would end up here. I never imagined that I could exist outside the Church I once held so dear. But due to the routine state-sanctioned violence that is being inflicted on my people, and the inadequate response from the church (among other things), I have decided to remove myself entirely from a system that claims to value my soul, but fails to show up for my Black body. I’ll probably end up writing a book about this one day, but in the meantime, here are 20 things I’ve learned since leaving the church:

  1. God is not a man.
  2. There is no pre-determined path called “God’s will”…

My Sweetie is Gone

Just 1 month after my mother passed away in April, my wife of 30 years followed right after, on May 1st 2016. Robin and I did everything together, our lives fit like a glove, and we were literally inseparable. Sickle Cell Anemia taunted Robin since she was 4 years old, and at the age of 49, this disease robbed me of the love of my life, and the very best thing that has ever happened to me. I love her forever – One Life, One Wife! Rest well my precious Sweetie, I’ll miss you for now, but we will be together again!

Why I Like Donald Trump for President

donald-trump-make-america-greatFor many people who know me personally, this article will likely be an unprecedented shock.  I grew up in the inner-city of Indianapolis, IN, in a family whose political affiliation has always been with the Democratic Party.  However, I have always been somewhat a “free thinker”, in that I have always had a hard time simply believing whatever I was told.  I’m the kind of person who enjoys the freedom, and flexibility of watching the evidence, listening to the facts, and drawing my own conclusions.  If that means I am out of step with mainstream thought, or ideology – so be it!  This is my life, and I refuse to live it in the confines of what someone else thinks, or believes.  This is why I am an “Unaffiliated, Moderate, Citizen” as my choice for political allegiance.

My latest deviation for the assumed-norm, is my support for the 2016 Presidential Candidate, Donald J. Trump.  How did I get there?  Well, the ride has been fairly up-and-down, meaning, I did not support Mr. Trump initially, and for Gods sake no, I did not support Hillary Clinton; although, for many African Americans, Mrs. Clinton is the logical best choice – just not for me.  I originally supported Bernie Sanders, and even sent donations to his campaign.  I liked Sen. Sanders because he was not afraid to reach for necessary changes, even though unpopular with the Democratic Party.  This made Bernie the perfect choice for someone like me, because he was not concerned with the “status-quo”, mundane message expected from a Democrat, instead, he wanted to revolutionize the American political system, and honestly, that is exactly what America needs.  Unfortunately, establishment Democrats have thrown their considerable weight behind the Clinton legacy, and have secured very early in the primary season, an overwhelming majority of Super-delegates for the Clinton campaign.  Sorry, but this summarily ends the viability of Sen. Sander’s run for President.

But my hopes are not completely ruined, because on the Republican side of the process, there is one person who is not in lock-step with the traditional inadequacies of the American political system – Donald Trump!  No, Mr. Trump does not meet all my expectations in terms of Education, and Healthcare, but I do believe he will address both in a way that most, if not all Americans will have some degree of benefit – I refuse to believe Mr. Trump would leave millions of individuals, and families without healthcare, and millions of children, and college students without access to quality education.  This would mean Mr. Trump is a self-serving, opportunist, and in my opinion, nothing could be further from the truth.

What makes Donald Trump really appealing to me is his stance on border security, and yes, if building a wall is the only way to make that happen, then so be it.  Let’s be honest, illegal immigration causes major problems for America, and her citizens; not the least of which are:

  • Increased crime, committed by those illegal people who are so inclined to misbehave in such a way – NOT ALL IMMIGRANTS!
  • Lack of jobs for American citizens, due to illegal immigrants’ willingness to take much lower wages, and consequently, lower wages for American citizens.
  • Despicable disrespect, and unfairness to the millions of American citizens, who were themselves immigrants who followed the legal process to citizenship.

Perhaps the biggest reason I support Donald Trump is his heroic stand against the failed, and failing trade relationships we have around the world.  Mr. Trump is right, we are not winning in any of these relationships, rather, America, and Americans are the biggest losers as a result!

We need fundamental change in Washington, and I believe Donald J. Trump is the man for the mission.  Could I be wrong, sure!  All of us can, no matter who we support, because they are all just human beings like the rest of us.  But if I had to cast my vote for someone I believe would be best for our country, it would be cast for Donald Trump, and in the upcoming Indiana primary, that is exactly how my vote will be cast.

Your Mind Is The Boss Of You!

The Power of The MindMost people have a problem with others bossing them around.  We like to think that we have our lives under control, and that we don’t need anyone trying to tell us what to do. There are times when we solicit advice, input, and support from others, but that’s “ok”, because we initiate those opportunities for someone else to get into our business.  On the other hand, when someone intrudes into our personal space, and assaults us with their unsolicited advice, this tends to push our very sensitive buttons!

Regardless of how we feel about other people bossing us around, there is one person whose beat we march to whether we realize it or not.  Yes, you do have a boss, and some of you may be very surprised when I tell you that this person is… YOU!  I am referring to the “real” you, the unseen, yet very present essence of light and power, that comprises who you really are… the spiritual you… the conscious you… your mind!

Yes, you are the boss of your own life, and the life that you have now is the result of your own thinking, and decisions.  This is not to say that others do not have an “influence” on your life – because they do, and sometimes those influences present us with positive and negative opportunities to respond in one way or another.  Never forget though, that how you respond to the influences of others is totally up to you!  No one can ever “make” you do anything – not God, not the so-called Devil, not anyone or anything.  You are the decision-maker of your own life, and you have to be responsible for the choices that you make.

How you think, and what you think about, determines the nature of your character.  What exists inside the auspices of your mind, will shape the course and direction of your life.  Will awesome things happen to you in life?  Yes, and how you respond to them will determine what is next for you.  Will horrible things happen to you in life?  Yes, but how you respond to them will chart your course for the future.  No one is responsible for you but you!  Taking responsibility for our own decisions is a key step toward true maturity as a person.  Your thinking, your mindset, your mental proclivity, the focus of your mind, the quality of your thinking… all these are the boss of you!

Peace, Love, and Light to you all!
